I had never tried a B&B before, but was tempted to try my first when I met Giulia at a party in Los Angeles. I had questions. Would I need to pack my own hairdryer? Would it be like staying in someone’s home where you feel slightly underfoot? I didn’t need to worry. My only regret is not having been able to extend my two-night stay at Vista Iblea. Giulia went out of her way to make all her guests comfortable and her concern for every detail of my trip was limitless. There was plenty of privacy and the pleasure of breakfast on the terrace with its serene view of the gorge below can't be overstated. Thanks to Luisa, for preparing my cappuccino, and to the owners of this B&B for the charming introduction to Ragusa. When I return, it will be after watching the Italian television series featuring Inspector Montalbano. Maybe I’ll even have lunch at Trattoria La Rusticana, aka “Trattoria San Calogero,” where the famous gourmand loved to eat. But that’s only if I can tear myself away from the terrace at Vista Iblea.

After having stayed in Vista Iblea, I must say I will undoubtedly be back next year! This newly renovated home was exactly what my boyfriend and I were looking for on our trip to this beautiful baroque town of Sicily. As a photographer, I was looking for a place to stay close enough to all the subjects I needed to shoot for my latest project, such as the Duomo di San Giorgio and the Iblean hills. Needless to say, this place was ideal for that purpose. Not only was it conveniently located in the heart of the town but it was clean, well kept and very comfortable to stay in after the day's activities. Giulia, the owner, responded in a timely manner when I contacted her and tried her best to best accommodate all my needs. I highly recommend this place and this town! Rich in culture and architecture, it is simply a must if you're visiting southern Sicily.
